After many years fruitful and successful service our current Chair is retiring soon. To allow some time for handover, we are looking for a new Chair for our Railway Mission Board of Trustees, to lead us in the next stage of our journey.

We invite applications from those with the experience and qualities needed to chair a Board strategically and work with an Executive Director (ED) who manages our operations. Our Christian charity provides industry commended chaplaincy services to rail staff and those affected by railway operations.

You will be passionate about expanding our chaplaincy services in quality and coverage. An organised, energetic and reliable leader, you’ll be dedicated to leading and supporting the Board and ED in achieving our vision. A fluent and persuasive communicator with leadership and chairing skills, you will represent the organisation publicly and internally and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including engagement with senior figures across the rail industry to maintain and grow support for the Railway Mission’s work.

The role of Chairperson is a voluntary, unpaid, non-executive appointment. The role requires a commitment of approximately three to six days per month, with the capacity to flex upwards should the need arise.
