Youthscape and The Olive Tree Church are seeking to recruit an exceptional youth worker to take on an innovative new ministry role. 

The successful candidate will work on behalf of both organisations in a range of contexts including school, church and the local community. They will be responsible for the youth ministry at The Olive Tree Church and will work on defined local projects as part of the Youthscape team.

As part of a small team of collaborative workers assigned to various local churches, this person will help to grow youth ministry across the town, and create pathways for young people to find a home in Christian communities. Working in church, school and the Youthscape local drop-in, they will represent both organisations simultaneously, building on the already-strong links between the two.

They will also be empowered to develop and implement new projects at Youthscape, which in turn will connect with and enrich their work at The Olive Tree Church.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

1. To lead the youth work at The Olive Tree Church
1.1 To develop, alongside senior Youthscape staff, a long term strategy for growing youth work in the
church, and to present this strategy to the church leadership for approval.
1.2 To lead the delivery of youth work at the church, and implement the agreed strategy.
1.3 To recruit and manage volunteers from the church to staff the youth work.
1.4 To organise and co-ordinate youth work programmes, to ensure the programmes are properly
budgeted, and to oversee any volunteer rotas.
1.5 To report to and otherwise communicate with the church membership on the development of the
youth work.
1.6 To build a relationship between the church and at least one key local school.

2. To work as part of a team developing youth work across Luton churches
2.1 To work alongside and share learning with other Collaborative Workers to ensure that all churches
involved in the scheme have the best chance of a thriving youth work.
2.2 To assist other Collaborative Workers in delivery of certain events and projects, on the understanding
that such an arrangement will be equally reciprocated.
2.3 To support the Youthscape Luton Director in leading and delivering the Luton Unite programme, to
coordination the churches’ in Luton Unite, and to promote the events to the church young people.

3. To work as part of Youthscape’s face-to-face local team, in various contexts
3.1 To be part of the team delivering the Drop-In at Bute Mills on at least one drop-in session per week.
3.2 To deliver assemblies, lessons and other activities in school, as directed by their line manager.
3.3 To take responsibility for leading projects within the local work of Youthscape and ensuring that
delivery of these projects is properly managed, advertised, resourced, budgeted and prioritised
alongside other work.
3.4 To supervise Youthscape volunteers as directed by your line manager
