The Beacon Church is a vibrant, growing and dynamic community of believers based in Camberley, Frimley, Farnborough and the surrounding areas. We are part of a family of churches called Commission which is part of the wider global Newfrontiers family, a movement that’s grown to thousands of churches around the world.

We are seeking a youth team leader to join our staff team. This is a key role within the life of The Beacon Church, and is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and passionate youth leader to lead our youth group and outreach amongst 11-18s. You will be a motivated leader who can develop, lead and inspire a team of volunteers who will encourage and support our young people to come to and grow in their faith and to share the good news about Jesus.

Applications are invited for a staff salaried part-time Youth Team Leader role AND/OR Applications are also invited for a full-time salaried role comprising Youth Team Leader, and any of Alpha Leader or Head of Website Development or Head of Digital Marketing (see below for more information).

Youth Team Leader

The successful applicant would:

  • Carry the responsibility to ensure that a Beacon Youth programme is delivered – This is at minimum Friday nights, but may also include some provision on Sunday mornings.
  • Carry the responsibility for seeking to disciple youth into personal relationships with God, in both larger groups and smaller relational settings.
  • Shape up a strategy to reach young people in the area, and help them meet Jesus.
  • Seek to grow the youth ministry by creating attractive and compelling environments to which our youth can invite their not-yet Christian friends.
  • Carry the responsibility for about 40 people going each year to a summer youth festival (normally Newday) which you also attend and lead the team on the campsite.
  • Identify, train and release Youth Leaders.
  • Provide supervision to Youth Leaders.
  • Support and assist parents/guardians in the process of discipling the youth.
  • Communicate with the youth and their parents/guardians in a timely manner to keep them abreast of events, resources and updates.
  • Oversee collaboration with the local Camberley ‘Youth For Christ’, with our Newfrontiers sphere which is called “Commission,” and any other relevant youth initiatives.

The successful applicant for the part-time Youth Leader role may be employed full-time because they also fulfil one or more of the following roles:

Alpha Leader

The Person:

You would need to be able to put people at their ease, and relate well to those who don’t know Jesus yet. You’d also be able to relate well to Christians who have never invited anyone to Alpha and have no plans to do so. You’d need to help them too.

The role:

  • You would carry the responsibility for casting vision for the Alpha Course within the Beacon Church. This goes way beyond saying: “Please invite your friends to Alpha”.
  • You would devise and shape up strategies which encourage Beacon Church people to invite not-yet Christian friends onto Alpha.
  • You would be expected to lead by example in friendship evangelism, which is “more caught than taught”.
  • You would be responsible for successfully delivering Alpha Courses throughout the year, both online and in person.
  • You would be responsible for recruiting volunteer table leaders.
  • You would need to motivate and envision the Alpha Team, including those preparing food.
  • You would approach the Holy Spirit Weekend/Away day with confidence.
  • You would carry the responsibility to pioneering ways whereby Alpha course attendees find a pathway into the church. This might be through creating Beta courses, or creating realistic next steps into mid-week small groups.

Head of Website

The successful applicant would, with the help of the church leadership and staff, design and deliver a new website for the Beacon Church, Camberley.

Head of Digital Marketing:

The successful applicant would shape up and deliver a targeted marketing strategy seeking to attract people to The Beacon Church, Camberley. The role would stretch across many social media platforms, would include paid advertising, and most importantly you’d be able to motivate, train and release Beacon Church people to make the most of their online presence.
