Do you love Jesus and have a heart for young people and Spirit-filled worship?
Can you step out in faith, following the Spirit’s lead, and pioneer new ground?
Do you want to see the Father’s kingdom grow in the North?
As the Parish of Bishop Auckland, we have two church buildings and several congregations that each offer different forms and styles of worship, mission and ministry. This role will join a team focused alongside our Sunday Gathering congregation. Sunday Gathering is a recently planted congregation, based within our town centre church; it brings together people of all ages for a relaxed, contemporary service, with band-led worship. This congregation has grown significantly since it was started in October 2018 and is a near 50/50 split with children and adults. This church also forms the backdrop for many of the missional activities within the parish, including engagement with numerous community and civic events, schools visits, and is home to our new parent and babies group ‘Blessed Beginnings’. We have recently been designated a Resourcing Church for Durham Diocese and with the additional funding that has been provided are looking to establish a large staff team to grow the mission and ministry of the church.
The Young Peoples’ Missioner (11+) & Worship Pastor will contribute to the leadership and direction of the whole church. Working with our two Children & Families Mission Leaders, focussed on 0-5s and 5-11s, this role will have specific responsibilities for the young people within our congregations and the wider community; and working with our existing music group and worship leaders, responsibilities towards the worshiping life of our church. The primary focus of this role will be on:
o Leading and developing our existing church-based activities for young people (11+)
o Creating relationships with the local secondary schools and college
o Developing strategies and activities to increase our engagement with the young people within our community
o Leading and developing the worship/music capacity across our activities as we engage in new areas of mission and ministry
o Supporting our current Sunday Gathering worship team
We are looking for someone who is committed to their own personal discipleship and faith. They will have the passion, enthusiasm and gifts to share their faith; be able to disciple the young people of our church and community; and use worship to enhance the mission and ministry of the church. Experience of working with young people, engaging in mission and leading worship are essential.
