We are looking for a Children & Young People Mission and Ministry Adviser to contribute to the Diocesan vision ‘Called Together’ by developing and supporting ways of working with Children and Young People in the Bromley and Bexley Archdeaconry.

Children and Young people are integral to our churches and our team in the diocesan office engage with our parishes to support them in offering the young people in their parish a life-enhancing encounter with Jesus Christ. We are looking for a Children & Young People Mission and Ministry Adviser to contribute to the Diocesan vision ‘Called Together’ by developing and supporting ways of working with Children and Young People in the Bromley and Bexley Archdeaconry. The successful candidate will advise on all aspects of Children’s and Youth mission & ministry and engage creatively with parishes to promote and nurture innovation and shared learning within our communities.

Candidates must have previous experience within Children & Young Peoples Ministry and hold an appropriate qualification with a background in providing training and advice to adults within the children and youthwork sector. You must be a communicant member of the Church of England with an understanding of the structure, diversity and culture within the diocese. The successful candidate will be required to travel throughout the Diocese and have an enhanced DBS check. (travel across diocese will only be occasional but definitely within arch deaconry)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional support and development for those called to work with Children & Young People and to promote the participation of Children & Young People in such developments.
  • Assist churches to enable and promote dynamic spiritual encounters for Children and Young People within the church, in collaboration with parishes, deanery and area teams and other diocesan advisers
  • Offer expertise to churches, parishes and deaneries in encouraging, resourcing and enabling Children & Young People to develop a distinctively Christian approach to God’s world.
  • Build relationships across the Archdeaconry to enhance provision and to drive forward the discipling & active participation of Children & Young People.
  • Provide training and facilitate the sharing of good practice in working with Children & Young People between parishes and deaneries across the Archdeaconry.
