Do you love Jesus and have a heart for children and their families?
Can you step out in faith, following the Spirit’s lead, and pioneer new ground?
Do you want to see the Father’s kingdom grow in the North?
As the Parish of Bishop Auckland, we have two church buildings and several congregations that each offer different forms and styles of worship, mission and ministry. This role will join a team focused alongside our Sunday Gathering congregation. Sunday Gathering is a recently planted congregation, based within our town centre church; it brings together people of all ages for a relaxed, contemporary service, with band-led worship. This congregation has grown significantly since it was started in October 2018 and is a near 50/50 split with children and adults. This church also forms the backdrop for many of the missional activities within the parish, including engagement with numerous community and civic events, schools visits, and is home to our new parent and babies group ‘Blessed Beginnings’. We have recently been designated a Resourcing Church for Durham Diocese and with the additional funding that has been provided are looking to establish a large staff team to grow the mission and ministry of the church.
The Children & Families Mission Leader (5-11s) will contribute to the leadership and direction of the whole church, and working with our Children & Families Mission Leader (0-5s) and our Young Peoples’ Missioner (11+), will have specific responsibilities for the children and families within our congregations and the wider community. The primary focus of this role will be on:
o Leading and developing our existing church-based activities for children (5-11s) and their families
o Building upon our existing relationships and work with local primary schools
o Developing strategies and activities to increase our engagement with the families of the community
We are looking for someone who is committed to their own personal discipleship and faith. They will have the passion, enthusiasm and gifts to share their faith and be able to disciple the children and families of our church and community. Experience of working with children and engaging in mission are essential.
If you feel that God may be calling you to come and join us here in Bishop Auckland, please get in touch for an informal conversation or to request an application pack.
