The Hideaway in South Manchester is looking to recruit an experienced part-time Team Leader to join a thriving team in a new Christian play centre.

The Hideaway is phase 1 of a not-for-profit initiative that will become Hidden Treasure Discovery Centre and the UK’s first Bible-themed play centre. Opened since May 18, the centre has a brilliant community focussed play area, large café and runs a packed programme of courses, activities and workshops for all ages. Supported by local churches from a range of denominations, the centre aims to use play, education and relationships to improve lives and transform the local community.

The role of Team Leader is a part-time role, ideally 12-16 hours per week and will require weekend working (nb. We are closed Sunday mornings and evenings). The Team Leader is a Supervisory position that involves overseeing staff and the smooth running of the play centre in the absence of the General Manager. The Team Leader will work closely as part of a Christian Management team.

Salary: £10.50 per hour
Hours of Work: Part time – 12 hours per week (some flexibility within this)

The Job Holder will be expected to work flexibly within the opening hours of the centre (09:30am – 5:30pm Mon-Sat, 1pm-5pm Sun. The role is primarily Saturdays and Sunday afternoons. Mid-week work may occasionally be required.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To oversee the staff team and smooth running of the Hideaway on behalf of Manager’s when Manager’s are not present. Maintain and uphold consistent ethical values & community focus of the The Hideaway at all times. To collaborate with the General Manager, providing administrative and general support, outside busy periods and perform certain management duties in their absence.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THE TEAM LEADER

  • To work in close liaison with the Centre Management and Café Manager
  • Be a key member of the senior leadership team of Hidden Treasure Discovery Centre in developing policies and the vision of the centre in line with its Christian Ethos.
  • Take an active part in senior leadership vision & prayer days/events
  • To ensure that The Hideaway/Hidden Treasure Discovery Centre is a place of welcome and a clear example of Christian hospitality
  • To ensure the efficient and professional running of the centre
  • To develop and manage relationships with customers, staff and suppliers.
  • To open and close at the end of the day, ensuring that all checks have taken place and troubleshoot any issues throughout the day.
  • Manage staff team and volunteers in the absence of Manager’s as the person on site with senior responsibility for all issues.
  • Maintain appropriate customer confidentiality information and will be expected to comply with all aspects of the General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act.
  • Cash-up at start and end of the day, taking responsibility for any cash on-site.
  • Oversee First Aid procedures.
  • Oversee the befriending & prayer volunteers for the Café
  • To undertake all duties in accordance with relevant Health & Safety legislation and in line with the values and ethos of the organisation
  • Ensure that their working environment is kept free of hazards that may prove injurious to themselves, their colleagues and all those engaged in Cafe’s business, as well as any visitors.
  • To undertake CPD training opportunities to improve personal skills and knowledge.
  • Take some responsibility for certain administration duties.
  • Oversee the smooth running of parties, exclusive hire events and Sunday opening events – including the act of family worship on Sunday afternoon.

 

An Occupational requirement exists for the post holder to be a practising Christian, in accordance with the Equality Act, 2010
