The Coventry and Nuneaton Circuit is looking for a Church Development Leader to take a significant leadership role in the life of churches in the circuit. In the first instance, you would be working with Earlsdon and Radford Methodist Churches within the city of Coventry. We are looking for someone who will help churches to engage with their local community and develop sustainable mission strategies.
Main Responsibilities • To provide leadership to church communities, enabling them to develop appropriate and achievable mission strategies. • To enable churches to gain a good understanding of the communities in their area and to develop appropriate ways of engaging with them. • To preach and lead worship. • To assist with junior church programmes and to recruit, encourage and support junior church volunteers. • To develop activities to reach out to and support young people, students and people in their 20s and 30s. • To attend Church Council and Church Stewards’ meetings and to chair them if and when appropriate (in consultation with your supervisor). To attend the Circuit Leadership Team and Circuit Meeting as required. • To develop and support key relationships with ecumenical partners. • To keep adequate records of contacts and of work undertaken. • To appraise and review initiatives set up and activities undertaken, and change where necessary the action and focus of work after discussion with, and agreement, from your supervisor. • Any other duties and responsibilities, identified by your supervisor as are within your capabilities and level of responsibility, in order to meet the needs of the circuit. It is intended that the post holder will work in the first instance with Earlsdon and Radford Methodist Churches.
